President Trump intensified pressure on federal prosecutors over the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool vandalism case, urging U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro to reverse course after she moved to drop charges against former Olympic canoeist David Hearn.
According to the Gateway Pundit, the Justice Department formally dismissed the vandalism case against Hearn, who had initially faced serious federal exposure. Hearn, a three-time Olympic canoeist, was first arrested and charged with a misdemeanor for destruction of property after the Reflecting Pool was damaged in June, then indicted by a grand jury on felony destruction of government property, a charge that carried a potential 10-year prison sentence.
Pirro abruptly abandoned the prosecution, asserting that the damage was not intentional vandalism but the result of flawed installation by the contractor. That decision drew immediate fire from President Trump, who argued that federal authorities had backed away from holding the responsible parties to account.
Instead of going after the people that did it, the judge went after and went after her department, Trump said, sharply criticizing how the case was handled. And I guess she choked. I dont know what the hell happened.
On Friday, the President renewed his demand that Pirro revisit what he called a hastily made decision, pointing to new public scrutiny of the damaged area. Now that people are able to see it up close, they are reporting pure VANDALISM at The Reflecting Pool, Trump declared in a written statement.
He thanked citizen observer Andrew Leyden for documenting the scene, arguing that the physical evidence aligns with deliberate sabotage rather than a construction defect. Thank you Andrew Leyden for your observation! The material was cut right where the video tape showed, for 300 feet or more. People were on their knees with their hands in the water at the exact location of the slashes.
Trump further emphasized eyewitness accounts and the nature of the damage, insisting the Reflecting Pool was intentionally targeted.
Additionally, there were witnesses to the VANDALISM, and the flexible areas of the material were cut with a knife, he said, before calling on Pirro to re-visit her hastily made decision.
The President also highlighted Hearns political ties and legal representation, framing the case as part of a broader pattern of left-wing activism shielded from accountability. U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro should re-visit her hastily made decision, especially since it turned out that the gentleman involved is a big player in ActBlue, a disgraceful fundraising SCAM, and is represented by a TRUMP DERANGED SLEAZEBAG, Political Hack Lawyer, Norm Eisen, and CREW, a group that uses charity for political purposes which is, to the best of my knowledge, ILLEGAL!
I have been beating Eisen, a complete LUNATIC, in Court for 10 years, or more. He just keeps coming, but I always WIN! President DONALD J. TRUMP, the President added, underscoring his long-running feud with the liberal attorney. Eisen and Hearn appeared on CNN, where Eisen turned his fire on the Justice Department rather than on the alleged vandalism itself.
DOJ brazenly brought the full weight of the federal government to bear on the prosecution of Davey Hearn, Eisen complained, casting his client as a victim of overreach. For many conservatives, however, the deeper concern is that yet another high-profile case involving damage to a national monument and a politically connected defendant is being quietly swept aside, raising fresh questions about whether equal justice under the law still applies when progressive activists and their allies are involved.
