Former Vice President Mike Pence is urging a dramatic escalation against Iran, calling on both U.S. and Israeli forces to finish the job and decisively cripple the regimes military and nuclear capabilities.
According to the Daily Caller, Pence used a Fox News appearance to endorse President Donald Trumps ongoing campaign of pressure and targeted strikes against Tehran, framing the current moment as an opportunity to restore American deterrence after years of failed diplomatic overtures. He praised Trumps willingness to use force even as the President has confirmed that negotiations with Iran have resumed, despite continued attacks and denials from the Iranian regime.
I honestly think that the time has come for the president of the United States to unleash the armed forces of the United States, Pence told Fox News, arguing that half-measures will not change the regimes behavior. Strike the remaining nuclear facilities in Iran. Take down and degrade their ability to project force, not only in the strait, but across the region.
Pence framed the conflict in stark terms, insisting that strength, not concessions, is the only language Tehran understands. One does not make peace with ones enemy, one makes peace with ones defeated enemy. And given their posture and their attitudes and even denying that negotiations are happening, I have every confidence that there will come a moment where my old running mate has had enough.
Amid the standoff, Pence pressed for deeper coordination with Israel, which he called our ally, urging a united front to intensify military pressure on Iran. He again lauded Trumps earlier decision to hit the regime directly, casting it as a long-overdue correction to years of appeasement.
I dont think you can understate the significance of his decision last year to strike Iran directly for the first time in the history of our relationship with the regime in Tehran, Pence said, underscoring the break from the Obama-era nuclear deal. Unleashing our armed forces in Operation Epic Fury was historic, but now weve got to let our armed forces and our ally Israel finish the job, and I believe we can.
Trump, for his part, has emphasized that talks are underway even as he blasted Tehrans leadership as unbelievably duplicitous for publicly denying any negotiations. They ask for a meeting, some would say beg, talks begin, with more scheduled in the immediate future, and they say, openly and proudly, that theyre not having discussions, that nothing is being talked about, and theyre only dealing with Oman, Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Nothing gets through to Iran, unless we want it to, and nothing will get through, unless a Deal, or Total Surrender, is accomplished, Trump added, signaling that any agreement will be on American terms, not Irans. Whether Iran wants to admit it or not, we are, in fact, talking of a solution to a problem that they have caused, for decades. It is very simple, IRAN WILL NEVER HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON!
