A retired WWE legend turned Tennessee mayor is using his trademark bluntness to slam President Bidens border policies while rallying conservatives ahead of a key local election.
Glenn Jacobs, the Knox County mayor better known to wrestling fans as Kane, took to X on Monday to mock the administrations approach to illegal immigration, drawing on his years in the ring for a pointed analogy, according to Fox News. If I were a wrestling promoter and wanted to draw as big a crowd as possible without regard to cost, even if it meant bankruptcy, I'd make admission free and give everyone free unlimited pizza and beer, Jacobs wrote, before adding, And that, my friends, was the Biden Administration's immigration policy. His comments reflect a broader conservative frustration with what many on the right view as a reckless, open-border agenda that prioritizes political optics over national security and fiscal responsibility.
By contrast, President Donald Trumps tough stance on immigration was a central factor in his 2024 victory over Kamala Harris, as voters rejected the chaos and record crossings that defined the Biden years. In May, the Trump administration marked a full year of zero releases at the southern border, underscoring a sharp policy reversal that placed enforcement and deterrence back at the forefront.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection highlighted the impact of that shift in a news release, noting that Border Patrol recorded just 8,943 southwestern border apprehensions in April. CBP said that figure was 94% lower than the Biden administrations monthly average, 96% below the December 2023 peak during Bidens tenure, and even fewer than the number apprehended in just three days in April 2024.
Jacobs, a 59-year-old Republican who first won the Knox County mayoralty in 2018 and secured a second term in 2022, is term-limited and cannot run again. Instead, he is leveraging his platform to boost conservative candidates, urging voters to back Betsy Henderson and Republicans down the ticket when early voting begins later this month.
Henderson faces Democrat Beau Hawk in the general election, and Jacobs has not minced words about what he believes is at stake. Comparing Hawk to a far-left New York City figure, Jacobs warned, Knox County has its very own Mini Mamdani running to replace me as your next mayor, adding, The only way he can win is if Republicans take it for granted. Please remember to go vote for Betsy Henderson and Republicans up and down the ticket.
A vocal supporter of President Trump, Jacobs has in turn received backing from the Trump White House, aligning himself firmly with the populist, law-and-order wing of the GOP. As border numbers plummet under renewed enforcement and local races heat up, his remarks underscore how immigration and public safety remain defining issues for conservative voters from Washington to county courthouses.
