Actor Tom Hanks, a fixture of Hollywoods liberal establishment, delivered an unexpectedly sharp jab at MSNOW while speaking with one of the networks reporters at the opening of Barack Obamas presidential center.
According to Gateway Pundit, Hanks was approached on-site by MSNOW correspondent Jacob Soboroff, who clearly anticipated a friendly celebrity soundbite rather than a ratings joke at his own expense. Instead, Hanks opened with a quip that instantly undercut the networks relevance, asking, What can I do for the 800 people watching MS NOW? and leaving the reporter visibly wrong-footed.
Soboroff tried to salvage the moment, protesting, Oh, come on. Were live on MS NOW, only to have Hanks double down on the gag. Alright, add a zero if you need to, Hanks replied, as Soboroff insisted, I would say millions now that youre on our air, prompting a noncommittal, Alright, alright, from the actor.
Once the awkward exchange passed, Soboroff shifted to safer ground, asking, How do you feel to be here today? Hanks responded with a glowing description of the Obama event, saying, Look, this is a I feel like Ive been to the best church on the planet Earth. Wonderful, wonderful words, good music, good acts, before joking about the heat and his improvised method of applauding with a fan.
Attempting to reframe the conversation, Soboroff added, Ive seen you at conventions, Ive seen you at other events only for Hanks to cut him off with, Ive never been to a convention. For a network that routinely positions itself as a moral and political authority while attacking conservatives and President Donald Trump, being mocked on-air by one of its own ideological allies underscores just how little trust and attention many Americans now give to liberal cable outlets.
