JD Vance Rocked By Sudden Exit Of Longtime Power Broker

Vice President JD Vances chief of staff, Jacob Reses, is set to depart the Trump administration at the end of the summer, marking the exit of a key aide who has been at Vances side for years.

Reses has served as chief of staff since January 2025, a period that coincided with the early, defining months of the new administration. Several months ago, after his wife became pregnant with their first child, Reses privately informed Vance of his intention to step down, according to Just The News.

Vance, who has relied on a tight-knit circle of conservative advisers, praised Reses in a public statement that underscored the depth of their professional and personal relationship. He called Reses a discerning advisor and friend and added that he would continue to seek his counsel until their paths cross again.

Before entering the vice presidents office, Reses helped engineer Vances successful 2022 Senate campaign in Ohio, a race that strengthened the populist, America First wing of the Republican Party. Prior to that, he worked for Heritage Action, an affiliate of the conservative Heritage Foundation, and for Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., both influential forces in the movement to rein in the administrative state and defend traditional values.

While Resess next move has not yet been disclosed, his rsum places him squarely within the conservative policy and political ecosystem, suggesting he will remain an influential figure even outside the formal confines of government. His departure leaves Vance with a key vacancy to fill at a time when the administration is advancing an ambitious agenda on behalf of President Trumps supporters who expect results on border security, economic freedom, and the restoration of constitutional governance.
