WATCH: DeSantis Gets Into 'Heated Exchange' With Heckler In South Carolina

On Friday, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis engaged in a heated exchange with a heckler during his speech in Lexington, South Carolina.

The unidentified woman interrupted DeSantis' speech, calling him a "f------ fascist" and accusing him of denying healthcare to children. The governor was discussing the rights of parents to protect their children from sexualization in Florida schools when the heckler interrupted him.

DeSantis responded to the heckler by saying, "We're not going to let you impose an agenda on our kids. We're going to stand up for our kids. We're going to make sure to do it right." The crowd responded with a standing ovation as the woman was escorted out.

Democrats have criticized DeSantis for his parental rights law, which prohibits classroom instruction on sexual orientation or gender identity in kindergarten through grade 3 or in a manner that is not age-appropriate or developmentally appropriate for students by state standards. Critics have dubbed the "Don't Say Gay" law, although those words do not appear in the text.

DeSantis defended his stance on the issue, stating that he is often accused of "banning" books when he attempts to remove inappropriate subject matter from school libraries. He also emphasized protecting children from indoctrination and standing up for conservative values.

The DeSantis team posted the exchange clip to social media, describing it as the governor "roasting" an "angry leftist." DeSantis' response to the heckler drew support from his conservative base, who view his stance on parental rights and education as a crucial aspect of their values.
