An incident involving a California high school teacher has sparked controversy, leading to her temporary suspension from her duties.
Alyssa Griffiths, Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District's Director of Communications, confirmed that the teacher was put on administrative leave pending a comprehensive investigation.
The controversy began when a video showcasing the teacher explaining the location of sex toys in typical retail stores and detailing aspects of sexual pleasure started making rounds on social media. The teacher, who remains anonymous as the school District has yet to confirm her identity, can be seen in the video addressing a class at El Dorado High School in Placentia, California.
The video records the teacher delving into sex toys and the mechanics of male homosexual intercourse. "Here is where the prostate is, so you don't have to go inside the booty hole, you can actually just push on the seam and that stimulates the prostate gland as well," she's seen explaining while gesturing towards a screen displaying an image of a prostate gland. She adds, "They apparently really like that."
She further elucidates, "So that's why for male and male, anal sex is still very pleasurable because of the fact that it hits the prostate, and there's a lot of nerve endings in your body as well. So the girls, the G-spot, prostate, they're the equivalent to each other."
As part of her instruction, the teacher points out that sex toys can be found at familiar retailers like Target. "If you go to Target and go where the tampons and pads are, they have," she stated in the video. "They just look like a little box, but if you open up the there's like a Velcro front to the box, you open it up, and then 'BAM,' sex toy."
After a student chipped into the discussion, the class was also informed about other locations where such products are available, like CVS.
Initially uploaded on Instagram but later deleted, the video continues to be shared on Twitter.
Griffiths responded to the incident and reinforced the District's stringent expectations of employee conduct. "District employees are trusted to exercise professional judgment when deciding whether or not a particular issue is suitable for study or discussion. In the classroom, employees act on behalf of the district and are expected to follow the adopted curriculum, and they should not advocate personal opinions or viewpoints."
Griffiths also reassured stakeholders that the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) and El Dorado High School (EDHS) are committed to ensuring a conducive and respectful environment for all students.
