Jill Biden Memoir Detonates Democratic Civil War As Furious Insiders Accuse Her Of Fiction And Selfishness

Jill Bidens new memoir is stirring up a hornets nest inside the Democratic Party, reopening wounds from the Biden years that many on the left would rather see quietly forgotten as President Trumps second administration reshapes Washington.

According to Western Journal, View from the East Wing: A Memoir casts the former first lady as a reluctant political spouse who harbored grave concerns about her husbands fitness after the catastrophic June 2024 debate, the moment many Democrats now concede doomed his bid for a second term. Yet at the time, the public line from the Biden camp was that Joe Biden was vigorous and fully capable, a narrative that now appears increasingly at odds with the recollections of those who were closest to the campaign.

John Morgan, a Florida trial lawyer and major fundraiser for Bidens 2024 effort, dismissed the memoir as unhelpful, telling the Los Angeles Times, Ripping open a healing scab is never helpful. Morgan went further, arguing, In my opinion, she was the main problem. She loved the life and didnt want it to end.

Morgan mocked the books credibility, remarking, If you like fiction its good, and insisting Jill Bidens insistence that her husband never again behaved as he did on that debate stage defies the smell test. In a pointed rebuke of the familys judgment, he added, His keys should have been taken long before that night, a line that underscores how far Democratic insiders have moved from their earlier public defenses of Bidens capacity.

Several former aides are also bristling at what they see as an effort by Jill Biden to sanitize history and shift blame, according to Axios. One former Biden official lamented, I just wish they would give some more time and space and let people move on. It all feels so disingenuous.

Another former official drew a direct line between Jill Bidens account and that of Bidens onetime running mate, saying, The throughline between her book and [Kamala] Harris is that they blame everyone but themselves for the loss. A former Biden campaign aide was even more blunt, charging, Its just so selfish. The Bidens preached selflessness and service above all and every decision theyve made since he decided to run for reelection has been about themselves. Its also ironic the only people undermining President Bidens legacy are the people closest to him.

Some Democrats, eager to move past the Biden era and regroup against a resurgent conservative movement, are openly pleading for the family to exit the stage, Politico reported. Veteran Democratic strategist Pete Giangreco complained, Nobody wants to relitigate the worst debate performance since the Greek Republic. Why are we talking about this? Why are we talking about Hunter Biden? Why is Hunter Biden talking about Hunter Biden?

Giangreco urged the party to focus on the political battlefield rather than the Bidens personal dramas, saying, Your time has passed, move on The Republicans and all their super PACs are going to outspend us three-to-one, four-to-one thats what we need to be focused on. Meghan Hays, a former special assistant to Joe Biden, offered a more restrained but still telling assessment, observing, I think that they need to sell books, and I think that Dr. Biden wants her story out there.

For conservatives, the backlash to Jill Bidens memoir simply confirms what many argued throughout the Biden years: that the public was misled about Joe Bidens condition and that a tight inner circle clung to power long after it was prudent. As Democrats squabble over who is to blame and how to spin the past, President Trumps administration is free to press ahead with an agenda of secure borders, economic freedom, and limited government, while the party that once rallied around Biden now appears mired in recriminations and revisionism.
