Conservative commentator Dan Bongino argues that todays Democratic Party has effectively narrowed its base to wealthy Karens and impoverished Americans dependent on government largesse, abandoning the middle class that once anchored its coalition.
According to Gateway Pundit, Bongino used a recent appearance on FOX News to describe what he sees as a deliberate political realignment engineered by Democrat elites. He contends that the Democrats have lost the middle class and now cater almost exclusively to the super rich Karens, who can be whatever they want, because it doesnt matter, so they can live in the world of ideas and really poor folks who have been given money by the Democrats, taking money from the super rich to pay them off.
Bongino maintains that this hollowing out of the partys center has pushed middle-class and working-class votersespecially those in industrial and energy-producing statestoward Republicans who emphasize work, self-reliance, and economic freedom. They have lost the middle class completely, he said, arguing that Democrats are now resorting to crude theatrics to feign authenticity with voters they no longer understand.
He pointed to the growing trend of Democrat politicians using profanity in public as a contrived attempt to sound working class, citing Arizona Senate candidate Ruben Gallego as an example. So they think if they go out and do the Ruben Gallego and drop a few F bombs inauthentically, then all of a sudden a bunch of working class coal miners from West Virginia are going to clamor to vote Democrat again, Bongino remarked, adding, I dont think its going work. I think its a really poor strategy.
Bonginos critique reflects a broader conservative warning that the party of Bernie Sanders, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Zohran Mamdani is steering Democrats toward an even sharper divide between affluent progressives and the permanently dependent poor. If that trajectory continues, Republicansespecially those aligned with President Donald Trumps populist messageare likely to consolidate even more support among the very middle-class voters Democrats once claimed to champion.
