Left-wing television personality Drew Carey unleashed a profane tirade on social media over the weekend targeting Los Angeles mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt, branding him a serial scammer devoid of a moral compass.
.
As reported by The Post Millennial, Carey took to Metas Threads platform to denounce Pratt, who has rapidly emerged as a serious challenger to Democrat incumbent Mayor Karen Bass. Anyone who votes for, or endorses Spencer Prattfall for Mayor of LA needs to get their head out of their ass. I understand being angry/unsatisfied, but at least get behind someone competent and not some serial scammer without a soul or moral compass. F*ck this guy already, Carey wrote, in a post that quickly drew intense reaction.
Careys outburst comes as Pratts insurgent campaign continues to gain traction, buoyed by viral political advertisements that have resonated with disaffected Angelenos frustrated by crime, homelessness, and declining quality of life under progressive leadership. TMZ founder Harvey Levin has even suggested that Pratt is likely to defeat Bass in the primary, though he predicted Pratt would fall short in a general election matchup.
The comedians attack did little to calm the citys political tensions, instead exposing a widening rift between entrenched liberal elites and voters who feel abandoned by the status quo. Careys post drew both sharp criticism and praise, with many users questioning why anyone would reward Bass with another term after years of visible urban decay.
So youre gonna vote for [Bass] again who has literally destroyed the city, one user replied, pointing to the mayors record as homelessness and public disorder have spiraled on her watch. Another wrote, Karen is competent? She let 25,000 homes burn down and didnt listen to warnings from aids, highlighting what critics see as catastrophic mismanagement and indifference to public safety.
Some users echoed Careys disdain for Pratt, but still framed their argument in terms of systemic failure rather than confidence in current leadership. Being angry at the system is valid. But backing Spencer Pratt for Mayor of LA is not some anti-establishment genius move. The guy is a serial scammer with zero moral compass, one commenter insisted, repeating Careys characterization almost verbatim.
Polling suggests, however, that voters are increasingly open to an alternative to Bass and her progressive allies. According to a recent Cygnal survey of 500 likely voters conducted May 1518, Bass leads Pratt 47 to 33 percent in a head-to-head race, with a sizable 20 percent still undecided.
When City Councilmember Nithya Raman is added to the ballot test, Bass drops to 25 percent, Pratt holds 22 percent, and Raman garners 18 percent, underscoring a fractured left-wing coalition and a volatile electorate. With Pratt closing in despite relentless attacks from Hollywood figures like Carey, the race is shaping up as a referendum on years of liberal governance in Los Angelesand on whether angry voters will continue to tolerate policies that have left their city less safe, less affordable, and less free.
