Rep.
Lauren Boebert (R-CO) publicly praised President Donald Trump on Tuesday night, only days after he threatened to help oust her from Congress.
Her remarks followed the stunning primary defeat of Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY), who lost his bid for renomination in Kentuckys 4th Congressional District to Trump-endorsed challenger Ed Gallrein, according to Mediaite. Boebert, who had aligned herself with Massie in a recent intra-party dispute, appeared eager to reaffirm her loyalty to the President as the MAGA base continues to shape Republican primaries.
Tonight I celebrated my sons graduation! My friend & Co-Chair gave his all in Kentucky! Trump is my President! Jesus is Lord! Boebert wrote in a social media post on Tuesday evening. I look forward to a lifetime filled with joy, purpose, and gratitude. May God continue to bless America and the freedoms that make this nation the greatest.
Her effusive praise came just days after Trump blasted her on Truth Social for backing Massie, signaling he might withdraw his support in favor of a more reliable ally. The episode underscores how central Trumps endorsement remains in Republican politics, and how quickly it can be revoked when lawmakers stray from the America First line.
Boebert is campaigning for the Worst Republican Congressman in the History of our Country, Thomas Massie, of the Great Commonwealth of Kentucky, and anybody who can be that dumb deserves a good Primary fight! Trump declared on Saturday. Even though I long ago endorsed Boebert, if the right person came along, it would be my Honor to withdraw that Endorsement, and endorse a good and proper alternative. Just let me know, or announce your Candidacy, and I will be there for you!
Massies loss further narrows the ranks of House Republicans willing to buck Trump, particularly on high-profile transparency fights such as the push to release the Jeffrey Epstein files. Of the four GOP members who signed a discharge petition on that issue, only two will soon remain in office, after Massies defeat and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greenes resignation from the petition in January.
Whether Trump will ultimately move to recruit and endorse a primary challenger against Boebert remains an open question, especially as grassroots conservatives weigh her record against her recent show of loyalty. For now, Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC), another of the four dissenters, has managed to avoid direct confrontation with Trump, highlighting the delicate balance Republicans must strike between independence and allegiance to the partys dominant figure.
