Billionaire investor Mark Cuban declined to revisit his past endorsement of former Vice President Kamala Harris even as he stood shoulder to shoulder with President Donald Trump to promote a new White House initiative aimed at slashing prescription drug costs.
According to Mediaite, Cuban appeared behind the President in the Rose Garden as Trump unveiled TrumpRx.gov, a government-backed portal designed to steer Americans toward steeply discounted medications. The President announced that 600 low-cost generic drugs would be available through the site, underscoring a market-driven approach to lowering prices rather than expanding federal control over healthcare.
In a move that blends private-sector innovation with limited-government facilitation, the administration has partnered with Cubans own Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drugs, a company that sells pharmaceuticals at cost with a 15 percent markup, a fixed $5 fee, and $5 shipping. Through TrumpRx, some users will be directed to Cubans platform, while other partners in the initiative are set to include GoodRX and Amazon, signaling a competitive marketplace rather than a centralized bureaucracy.
The political optics were impossible to ignore, as one reporter remarked that it was remarkable to see Trump and Cuban sharing a stage given Cubans past criticism of the President and his endorsement of Harris during her presidential run. Trump, never one to miss an opportunity for a jab, responded, Well, he made a mistake. It was a big mistake, drawing laughter from the audience and even from Cuban himself.
Outside the White House, Cuban sidestepped efforts to drag the event into partisan territory when pressed on whether he regretted backing Harris. Im not going into my politics at all, he replied, refusing to provide Democrats with a soundbite that might undercut his appearance alongside the President.
Cuban also brushed off a question about whether the Iran War could disrupt global supply chains and drive up drug prices, saying he does not know enough about the details and couldnt even give you a good answer until they give me top secret clearance. Instead, he emphasized a shared bipartisan interest in affordability, telling reporters, Democrats want cheaper medications, too. When all is said and done, the goal is the goal. How do we make medications and healthcare cheaper? Thats all I care about.
When asked if more Americans should view Trumps actions through a nonpartisan lens, Cuban again steered the conversation back to practical outcomes rather than partisan theater. Directing people concerned about healthcare to both his site and TrumpRx, he added, The way I always look at politics and any politician is, the only thing I care about is can they reduce the stress of the American people? All the politics increases stress. This, TrumpRx and Cost Plus Drugs working together, is one step toward reducing your stress. To me, thats the ultimate goal, a sentiment that aligns more with conservative priorities of tangible results and market solutions than with progressive calls for sweeping government control.
