Kathy Griffin has once again targeted a prominent conservative family, this time directing a profane and deeply personal attack at the late Charlie Kirk and his widow, Erika Kirk, during a recent episode of her podcast.
The 65-year-old entertainer used her show, Kathy Griffin: Talk Your Head Off, to smear the murdered Turning Point USA founder as a straight-up Nazi and to belittle his grieving wife. According to Gateway Pundit, Griffins tirade comes just eight months after Charlie Kirk was brutally assassinated while speaking at a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, a tragedy that shocked conservatives nationwide.
Griffin, who once shared a civil panel discussion with Charlie Kirk, abandoned any pretense of decency as she mocked Erika Kirks appearance and even speculated about further violence. Who knows how many assassination attempts there could be, just in the next day, or how many times Erika Kirk is going to switch from her sparkle pants to that weird video that she made thats just bizarre, Griffin said, trivializing both political violence and a widows grief. She went on, Wasnt that Erika Kirk video weird? Her being not girly and looking like I dont even know what, like a sniper?
The comic-turned-activist continued her sneering commentary, adding, She looks like shes going to an anti-ICE protest, which is something she would not do. Griffin then declared, Look, Im done giving her a pass, all right? In doing so, she signaled that, in her view, the widow of a slain conservative leader is fair game for ridicule and character assassination.
Griffin then shifted her fire to Charlie Kirk himself, a young father whose work with Turning Point USA helped mobilize a new generation of conservatives. I knew Charlie Kirk. I did a panel with him one time, and his squished-in face, Griffin said, reducing a murdered man to a cheap insult. She continued, And, yeah, I said that, because that dude was a straight-up Nazi.
Her rant escalated as she added, And that is my opinion. But, you know, the way weve deified him is bizarre. Ive never seen anything like it. For many on the right, such language underscores the lefts growing comfort with dehumanizing conservatives, even in death, while demanding civility for their own side.
This episode is only the latest entry in Griffins long record of grotesque attacks on conservatives and their families. Most notoriously, in 2017, Griffin posed for a photo holding a fake, bloodied, severed head of President Donald Trump, an image so disturbing that it was condemned across the political spectrum, got her fired from CNN, and reportedly terrified then-11-year-old Barron Trump. Despite that backlash, Griffin now appears to mock the outrage in the very title of her podcast, a reminder that in certain corners of the entertainment world, hatred of conservatives is not a liability but a brand.
