President Donald Trump is signaling support for a rebranding of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, backing a proposal to rename the agency National Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or NICE."
According to One America News, the president amplified the idea on Sunday evening by sharing a screenshot of an X post that floated the new name and then endorsing it on his Truth Social account. The original X user had written, I want Trump to change ICE to NICE (National Immigration and Customs Enforcement) so the media has to say NICE agents all day everyday, to which Trump enthusiastically responded, GREAT IDEA!!! DO IT.
The lighthearted branding suggestion comes against a serious backdrop, as ICE agents have endured years of hostility from the left, including protests in multiple cities targeting officers simply for enforcing federal law. These agents are carrying out the Trump Administrations directive to crack down on illegal immigration, a policy that reflects a core conservative priority: secure borders and respect for the rule of law.
The president also recently confronted Democratic leadership over rhetoric that undermines those on the front lines of border security. Last week, he rebuked Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) for claiming that nobody respects in this country ICE and Border Patrol, a sweeping insult to men and women risking their safety to uphold immigration laws.
Trump condemned Schumers comment as one of the most egregious, incorrect, unpatriotic, and dangerous statements I have EVER heard from a professional politician, and demanded an apology from the senator. The debate over whether to call them ICE or NICE agents ultimately highlights a deeper divide: whether America will stand with its law enforcement officers and defend national sovereignty, or continue to indulge a progressive narrative that treats border enforcement as something to be mocked rather than respected.
