A Canadian academic who specializes in queer- and trans-centered spaces for children has sparked outrage after a viral clip showed the professor discussing sexual orientation work with students as young as kindergarten.
According to Gateway Pundit, the controversy was spotlighted on Fox News Gutfeld! program, where host Greg Gutfeld and his panel reacted sharply to the professors remarks and broader body of work. Gutfeld did not mince words, calling the educator repulsive after unleashing the blunt assessment, you sick, fat, f**k. Co-host Kat Timpf underscored the concern many parents share, arguing that if this academic is hearing from numerous children that they are transgender, it is because of him/her/they, not the kids.
The professor, identified as j wallace skelton, has been in the headlines recently over an unusual pronoun demand that has drawn widespread ridicule. As reported by the New York Post, the woke Canadian academic whose research includes working with young children to create queer- and trans-centered spaces is drawing mockery online for his choice of pronouns his full name, all lowercase.
Skelton, a transgender PhD who presents as a man with a goatee, has asked to be referred to not as him, her or they, but solely as j wallace skelton, again including the lowercase letters. On Facebook, the professors profile reinforces this insistence with the directive, lower case letters please, a demand that has only fueled further criticism.
Employed as an assistant professor of queer studies in education at the University of Regina, Skelton openly incorporates family into this activist scholarship. On his website, Skelton describes being the parent of a non-binary ten year old, noting that the child is a frequent research partner in these projects.
One such initiative, detailed on Skeltons personal site, focuses on how do 2SLGBTQ children and children from 2SLGBTQ families envision educational spaces that meet their needs, using Canadas preferred 2SLGBTQ terminology. For many conservatives, this is emblematic of an academic establishment that has drifted far from core educational missions into ideological experimentation on children.
Higher education, once a pillar of rigorous scholarship, increasingly appears so far out of the mainstream that it is no longer recognizable, especially when taxpayer dollars underwrite such fringe agendas. Rather than funding radical social engineering in classrooms, critics argue resources should be redirected toward disciplines that tangibly serve societymaybe just medical schools, law schools, and high tech for a while. And trade schools. We actually need more people to go to those.
