Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel escalated his attacks on Attorney General Pam Bondi this week, mocking her as Scam-ala Anderson and theatrically predicting she would end up in jail over a dispute with House Democrats regarding Jeffrey Epstein-related records.
According to Mediaite, Kimmels latest monologue followed a staged walkout by Democratic members of the House Oversight Committee, who abruptly left a closed-door briefing with Bondi on Wednesday.
Democrats claimed Bondi had declined on multiple occasions to commit to honoring a congressional subpoena for sworn testimony about the Justice Departments handling of Epstein files, turning a routine oversight function into a made-for-TV protest.
Bondi, appearing with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, pushed back after the briefing, telling reporters she had made it crystal clear I will follow the law, while Republicans on the panel said she had indicated she would comply.
The committee had voted 2419 earlier in the month to issue the subpoena, with five Republicans joining Democrats, a move conservatives argue reflects political pressure rather than any proven misconduct.
Kimmel, opening his Thursday night show, insisted Bondi has a lot of questions to answer and claimed she tried to pull a fast one on the House Oversight Committee.
He described the briefing as a sham, saying, It was not on camera, not under oath, where she refused to commit to sitting for a real deposition, which is required by the subpoena. Democrats on the committee walked out in protest. Theyre like, Whats going on? Theres no point to asking questions unless shes under oath, before sneering, And thats when our sweet little Scam-ala Anderson did some of her finest acting yet.
Kimmel then aired footage of Bondi criticizing Democrats for demanding that the briefing be televised on outlets such as C?SPAN, a demand Republicans view as more about political theater than fact-finding.
And then she got in her car and ran over a kitten, Kimmel quipped, leaning on the kind of exaggerated caricature that has become standard fare in liberal late-night comedy.
The ABC host next turned his fire on House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, derisively calling him James Jim Bob Comer and mocking his defense of Bondi.
Needless to say, the chair of the House Oversight Committee, James Jim Bob Comer, was disappointed, but not at his pal Pam. He was mad at all these radical, law-abiding libs, Kimmel said, ridiculing Comers criticism of Democrats who walked out.
Kimmel played a clip of Comer condemning the very disappointing behavior of his Democratic colleagues and saying he believed they cared about getting the truth.
Kimmel cut in: Aww, you know what? They disappointed Gomer Pyle. Thats not nice. What a joke this is. Jim Comer is the same person who spent two full years investigating Hunter Bidens d*ck pics but why swear in a woman who still wont release millions of files and is given no good explanation why Trumps name was blacked out of just about everything?
Ramping up his criticism of Bondi, Kimmel highlighted the subpoenas deadline, saying, According to the subpoena, though, Bondi must appear under oath by April 14. But if she doesnt show up, their options are very limited, they can hold her in contempt, but that has to be prosecuted by the Department of Justice, which she runs.
And I dont see her holding herself in contempt, he added. I want the truth. I cant handle the truth.
Kimmel closed by predicting a familiar outcome that fits the lefts preferred narrative about President Trump and his allies.
The end of this, you watch, Pam Bondi goes to jail, Trump doesnt. Nothing happens to him, he quipped, turning a complex separation-of-powers dispute into another punchline aimed at a Justice Department led by a Trump appointee and a Congress still sharply divided along partisan lines.
