Jill Biden is preparing to cash in on her brief tenure in the White House with a new memoir that pointedly sidelines her husband even as it attempts to rewrite the political history of 2024.
According to Gateway Pundit, the former first lady has announced View from the East Wing, a book she claims will finally tell her side of the Biden years while carefully curating what the public is allowed to remember. In a social media video promoting the memoir, she insists that it was Joe Biden who made the unprecedented decision to forgo a re-election bid in 2024, a narrative that conveniently ignores the intense pressure campaign from Democrat donors, party elites, and media allies who had clearly decided he was a liability.
Her announcement video, posted to Instagram, was notable for what it did not show: Parts of this story have been told, but not all of it, Biden said in the clip which notably contained no sign of her husband, former President Joe Biden.
The political backdrop to her claim is impossible to miss. Actor George Clooney publicly demanded in a New York Times op-ed that Biden abandon the race, a piece many observers believe bore the fingerprints of Barack Obama and other party power brokers who wanted a new standard-bearer. Bidens withdrawal only came after major Democrat donors signaled they would shut off the money spigot as long as he remained the nominee, with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and former Speaker Nancy Pelosi reportedly holding private meetings with him as the pressure mounted.
Yet Jill Biden now suggests it was all Joes idea, framing it as a noble, solitary choice rather than the inevitable result of a political establishment desperate to salvage its chances against President Donald Trump. She promises to cover her husbands decision to not seek a second term in the summer of 2024, including what that moment meant for our family and for me personally, after years of public service together. What remains to be seen is whether she will honestly address Joe Bidens obvious health decline and the disastrous debate with President Trump that exposed those issues to the entire country and accelerated his political collapse.
The memoir also appears tailor-made for score-settling, a habit for which Jill Biden has already developed a reputation. Jill Biden, who is famous for carrying a grudge, could also use the memoir to settle some scores and get in the last word, the New York Post noted, adding that she is known to have read and been a fan of Prince Harrys scorched-earth, tell-all memoir Spare.
For all the media hype, it is not hard to imagine stacks of View from the East Wing languishing on discount tables at big-box stores, marked down 50 percent or more as voters who lived through the Biden years decide they have no interest in paying for a sanitized, self-serving rewrite of recent history.
