Trump Tower Down Under: $1.5 Billion Gold Coast Mega-Deal Sealed At Mar-A-Lago

Australia is poised to host its first Trump Tower, a $1.5 billion Australian dollar development on Queenslands Gold Coast that will reshape the Surfers Paradise skyline and the countrys broader hospitality market.

According to Breitbart, the 91-story Trump International Hotel & Tower, Gold Coast, will rise above the resort strip to claim the title of Australias tallest building, overtaking Melbournes Australia 108. Rising 91 stories above Surfers Paradise, Trump International Hotel & Tower, Gold Coast will introduce the first Trump-branded hotel in Australia, alongside 272 exclusive residences, a private Beach Club, and premier retail and dining, a statement on the Trump Hotels website read.

Set to become Australias tallest tower, this landmark address redefines beachfront sophistication with world-class amenities, iconic design, and uninterrupted Gold Coast views, the statement concluded, underscoring the Trump brands emphasis on luxury and high-end design. In a Monday morning statement, David Young, CEO of development company Altus Property Group, said the tower is expected to become the nations tallest before the end of the decade and confirmed that Altus and the Trump Organization finalized the deal at President Donald Trumps Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida on February 14.

The project will rise at 3 Trickett Street in Surfers Paradise, a prime coastal site long seen as ripe for redevelopment. Construction is scheduled to begin this year, with Altus planning to employ at least 500 workers during the build phase and a comparable number once the tower is operational, delivering a significant private-sector jobs boost rather than another taxpayer-funded scheme.

Importantly, the building is Australian-owned and Australian-built. It is an Altus subsidiary, Altus Resorts Pty Ltd, that makes the decisions on the fit-out, within the Trump design requirements. It will be an Australian, not American, project, Young said in the statement, pushing back against any suggestion of foreign control. It wont have a Four Seasons or Ritz Carlton brand above the front door, but it will say Trump. And that means it is a no-expense-spared, highest possible quality building the best in the world, he emphasized, aligning the development with the Trump Organizations global luxury positioning.

Young noted that the vision has been nearly two decades in the making, reflecting long-term private investment rather than a short-lived political fad. He explained that he first floated the idea in 2007 in a phone call to President Trumps daughter Ivanka Trump, adding, Trump hotels and resorts are the best, and thats what I wanted to build, a remark that highlights the enduring appeal of the Trump brand among developers seeking top-tier prestige.

The Australian Broadcasting Corporation reports that the construction site has sat vacant for more than ten years, a symbol of stalled foreign-backed projects that never fully materialized. Chinese developer Forise sold the land in 2019 for $56 million to a consortium of investors, clearing the way for an Australian-led partnership with the Trump Organization that prioritizes market-driven development over state planning.

A Gold Coast Council spokesperson reportedly confirmed to ABC that Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate met with the Trump Organization on February 13, with the site already holding council approval for an 89-storey tower. Deputy Mayor Mark Hammel explained to the outlet that Altus will be required to lodge a new formal development application for the Trump Tower, stating, We welcome investment in the city. It shows confidence in our city and ultimately creates jobs, a sentiment that reflects a pro-growth, pro-business approach to urban development.
