A transgender-identifying suspect accused of fatally shooting two family members at a high school hockey game on Monday was reportedly carrying two legally purchased handguns.
The alleged shooter, identified as Robert Dorgan, who went by the name Roberta, has become the latest example in a grim pattern of legally armed attackers, according to Breitbart. WION reported that the firearms in Dorgans possession were a Glock 10mm and a SIG Sauer P226, and further noted that the suspect held a valid concealed carry permit issued by the state of Florida.
Breitbart News has repeatedly shown that the majority of high-profile shooters during the past 19 years have acquired their guns via background checks. This reality undercuts the lefts routine demand for additional background checks as a supposed cure-all, even as existing laws are followed and still fail to prevent such crimes.
The outlet highlighted a short list of some of the high-profile attackers or alleged attackers who passed checks to acquire firearms, underscoring that compliance with current regulations is already the norm among these offenders. Yet one of the lefts more prominent knee-jerk reactions to high profile shootings is a call for more background checks, a response that often ignores deeper cultural, mental health, and law-enforcement failures.
