Watch: David Letterman Explodes On Those Idiots At CBS

Written by Published

David Letterman has unleashed a blistering attack on his longtime network CBS, branding its news division a wreck and accusing current executives of having trampled on the legacy of one of Americas most storied journalism brands.

In a video posted to his YouTube channel on Saturday, the former Late Show host praised ABCs Jimmy Kimmel for having brought the people at Disney, and all of those other network television owners to their knees in September, when Kimmel was suspended after criticizing the MAGA gang over the assassination of Charlie Kirk, according to Mediaite.

Letterman claimed, Jimmy Kimmel made [Disney executives] seem to be the fools they are, and continues to call attention to the plight, casting Kimmel as one of the few remaining late-night voices willing to confront corporate and political power.

Letterman went on to applaud other liberal late-night figures, saying, And also Seth Meyers, hes very good. And Im telling you, were running out of places where you hear these voices, before lamenting, And Stephen Colbert and that franchise, adios. He then insisted Kimmels criticism of President Donald Trump is not purely partisan, arguing, If we had a presidentwho was a Democrat, and behaved the way this Republican president is behaving, Jimmy would be attacking the Democrat president just as much as he attacks [Donald Trump]. So its not like its all politically driven.

From there, Letterman turned his ire squarely on CBS, accusing the network of betraying its own journalistic heritage. What about those idiots at CBS? he said, charging that CBS News is a wreck, its just gone!

Invoking the networks golden age, Letterman recalled, CBS News for decades, going back to World War II, before World War II, they would be Ed Murrow would be broadcasting the blitz of London from the rooftop of buildings in London for CBS Radio. He contrasted that tradition with the present, declaring, And it was that mentality that drove the integrity of CBS News that has been trampled on, pissed on, and eviscerated by these idiots that have taken it over!

Letterman admitted the decline of the network that made him a household name has become personal, saying, And Im at a point now where it really is hurting my feelings. Because Im sick and tired of people saying, Oh, wait until those midterms.

He dismissed the idea that electoral cycles alone can repair the cultural and institutional damage he sees, warning, Kids, were far downstream of the midterms having any effect on this. The full remarks were posted to YouTube, with the relevant portion beginning at approximately the 5:45 mark, offering a rare glimpse of a liberal entertainment icon openly condemning the corporate media establishment that once championed him.
