Trump Hints Mexico Could Be Next For Military Intervention

In a phone interview with Fox News, President Donald Trump suggested that Mexican drug cartels might soon find themselves in the crosshairs of American military intervention.

As reported by WND, President Trump revealed on Truth Social that American military forces, including Delta Force, had successfully conducted a law enforcement operation that resulted in the arrest of Venezuelan President Nicols Maduro and his wife in Caracas. During the "Fox and Friends Weekend" segment, co-host Charlie Hurt inquired whether this operation was intended as a signal to Mexico.

Trump responded by criticizing Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, stating, "Shes a good woman, but the cartels are running Mexico. Shes not running Mexico, the cartels are running Mexico."

President Trump elaborated on the situation, expressing frustration with the Mexican government's reluctance to address the cartel issue. He recounted his conversations with Sheinbaum, saying, "Ive asked her numerous times, would you like us to take out the cartels. No, no, no, Mr. President, no, no, no, please."

Trump emphasized the urgency of the matter, citing the devastating impact of drug-related deaths. "So, we have to do something because we lost the real number is 300,000 people, in my opinion. They like to say 100,000. 100,000 is a lot of people, but the real number is 300,000 people," he asserted.

The President highlighted the role of the southern border in the drug crisis, noting that most drugs enter the United States through this route. He acknowledged that some drugs also come from Canada but stressed the need for action with Mexico. Meanwhile, Attorney General Pam Bondi announced on X that Maduro and his wife would face arraignment in New York on charges related to drug trafficking and firearms offenses.

Trump commended the American military for executing what he described as an "amazing" operation, despite a four-day weather delay.

Reflecting on the operation, Trump remarked, "Ill tell you, it was just amazing. What was he [Maduro] doing? He was in a very highly guarded, like a fortress, actually." He praised the military's success in avoiding casualties, stating, "You know that we had nobody killed, it was amazing. I think we had nobody killed, I have to say, because a couple of guys were hit, but they came back and theyre supposed to be in pretty good shape."

In response to the operation, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum shared a statement from the Mexican government condemning the unilateral military actions taken by the United States in Venezuela. The statement declared, "The Government of Mexico strongly condemns and rejects the military actions carried out unilaterally in recent hours by armed forces of the United States of America against targets in the territory of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela."

This development underscores the ongoing tension between the United States and Mexico regarding the handling of drug cartels and border security.
