MTG Goes Off On Trump After Venezuela Strike: 'MAGA Didnt Vote For This'

In the waning days of her congressional tenure, Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) has vocally criticized President Donald Trump's decision to engage militarily with Venezuela.

According to Mediaite, Greene took to X on Saturday to express her disapproval of the administration's justification for the move, which was framed as a measure to combat narco-terrorism. "Ive served on the Homeland Security Committee for the past three years," Greene stated. "Im 100% for strong safe secure borders and stopping narco terrorists and cartels from trafficking deadly drugs and human trafficking into America."

She highlighted the grave impact of fentanyl, noting that it accounts for over 70% of U.S. drug overdose deaths and is trafficked by Mexican cartels using chemical precursors from China. Greene questioned the administration's priorities, asking, "If U.S. military action and regime change in Venezuela was really about saving American lives from deadly drugs then why hasnt the Trump admin taken action against Mexican cartels?"

Greene further scrutinized the administration's actions by pointing out the inconsistency in prosecuting narco-terrorists, referencing President Trump's pardon of former Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernandez, who was sentenced for trafficking cocaine into the U.S. She remarked on the irony, stating, "Ironically cocaine is the same drug that Venezuela primarily traffics into the U.S."

Greene suggested that the true motive behind removing Venezuelan President Nicols Maduro might be to gain control over the country's oil supplies, potentially setting the stage for future regime change efforts in Iran.

The congresswoman also questioned the moral standing of the U.S. in its military interventions, contrasting it with the global condemnation of Russia's invasion of Ukraine and China's aggression toward Taiwan. She asked, "Is it only ok if we do it? (Im not endorsing Russia or China)."

Greene's critique extended to the broader implications of regime change and foreign intervention, highlighting the frustration many Americans feel about their tax dollars being used for foreign causes while domestic issues remain unaddressed.

In a subsequent post, Greene expressed her disdain for the idea of ousting Maduro through military action, emphasizing the disconnect between government actions and the priorities of American citizens. "Regime change, funding foreign wars, and Americans (sic) tax dollars being consistently funneled to foreign causes, foreigners both home and abroad, and foreign governments while Americans are consistently facing increasing cost of living, housing, healthcare, and learn about scams and fraud of their tax dollars is what has most Americans enraged," she wrote.

Greene noted that while older generations might support such interventions, younger Americans are increasingly critical of them.

Greene concluded her remarks by reflecting on the disillusionment felt by many within the MAGA movement, stating, "This is what many in MAGA thought they voted to end. Boy were we wrong." Her sentiments were further underscored by a facepalm emoji in response to President Trump's announcement that the U.S. will "run" Venezuela, signaling her continued disapproval of the administration's foreign policy direction.
