Wyoming Secretary of State Chuck Gray, a Republican and staunch supporter of President Donald Trump, has declared his candidacy for Congress, aiming to succeed Rep. Harriet Hageman as she pursues a Senate seat.

Gray, who has been vocal about his alignment with Trump, stated that his decision was influenced by prayer and discussions with constituents throughout Wyoming. According to Fox News, Gray expressed his commitment to preserving Wyoming's values and advancing the Trump agenda, which he credits with securing significant electoral victories.

"Im running for Congress to continue fighting for Wyomings way of life," Gray announced in a press release. He emphasized the need for a representative who would build on Hageman's achievements and uphold conservative principles.

In a campaign video, Gray portrayed himself as "Wyoming tough" and "America first," pledging to counteract China's influence, treat drug smugglers as "terrorists," oppose "woke" energy policies, safeguard girls' sports, and deport "every single" illegal immigrant. "You elect me, theyre gonna notice," Gray asserted in the video.

Since assuming the role of Wyoming's chief election official in 2022, Gray has championed election integrity, implementing conservative reforms such as proof-of-citizenship requirements, a ban on ranked-choice voting, and restrictions on foreign election funding.

Gray has also sought to curtail third-party involvement in election administration and supported measures to prevent crossover voting in Republican primaries. "My record shows I do what I say," Gray declared. "In Congress, I will secure the border, unleash Wyomings energy, lower costs for families, and protect the Second Amendment."

His national prominence grew in 2023 when he opposed efforts to disqualify Trump from presidential ballots under the 14th Amendment, filing an amicus brief with the Colorado Supreme Court and later with the U.S. Supreme Court in support of Trump's eligibility.

"When political insiders abandoned President Trump, I didnt flinch," Gray remarked. "I stood with the President and the American people, because in this country voters decide elections, not radical leftist attorneys." Gray's campaign highlighted his recognition from conservative organizations such as CPAC, the Club for Growth, and Wyoming Right to Life, along with internal polling that positions him ahead of potential primary challengers.

The congressional seat Gray seeks was once held by former Rep. Liz Cheney, who lost her 2022 primary to Hageman after opposing Trump and diverging from party leadership. Hageman recently announced her Senate candidacy to replace retiring Sen. Cynthia Lummis.

Gray reiterated his dedication to Trump's policies, telling Fox News Digital, "I will work to stand with President Trump and continue to bring forward common-sense energy independence policies that will protect and grow Wyoming's core industries."

Gray criticized "woke wind subsidies and green boondoggles," advocating for their elimination and the continuation of Trump's border security efforts. He also expressed his intention to advance the SAVE Act, which mandates proof of citizenship for voter registration, aiming to extend this election integrity reform nationwide.
