Trooper's Ultimate Sacrifice in Final Act Of Heroism: Tunnel To Towers Rallies For His Devastated Young Family

In a tragic incident just before Christmas, Delaware State Police Cpl. Matthew "Ty" Snook was fatally shot while on duty at a DMV office.

According to Fox News, the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, a national charity, has pledged to pay off the mortgage for the family Snook left behind, including his wife and their 1-year-old daughter. Frank Siller, the foundation's CEO, recounted the bravery of the 10-year veteran state trooper, who sacrificed himself by pushing another person to safety during the attack.

Siller emphasized Snook's heroism, noting that he was shot a second time in what was described as an "execution-style" killing by Fox News Channel's Lawrence Jones.

Siller, who established Tunnel to Towers in memory of his brother lost on 9/11, stated, "He's a hero," highlighting the organization's commitment to supporting first responders and military families. He expressed the foundation's ambitious goal of paying off 343 mortgages next year, mirroring the number of firefighters lost on 9/11, with Snook's mortgage being the first. Siller aims to fulfill this promise by January 5, coinciding with the date of Snook's funeral service.

In a gesture of solidarity, Siller plans to visit Snook's widow, Lauren, to convey that "America cares" and assure her of ongoing support from Tunnel to Towers. He expressed a desire for the foundation to remain a steadfast presence in the family's life beyond their immediate grief.

Additionally, Siller mentioned that another widow, whose husband was killed in Afghanistan, would reach out to Lauren, further integrating Snooks family into the Tunnel to Towers community.
