In a stark warning to the international community, Israel's national intelligence chief has highlighted the persistent threat posed by Iran, ISIS, and other jihadist groups targeting Jews worldwide.
According to Fox News, Mossad Director David Barnea, speaking in the aftermath of the Hanukkah massacre in Australia, vowed that Israel's intelligence agency would relentlessly pursue those responsible, stating, "those who sent them wherever they flee, and we will hold them to account," and emphasizing that "justice will be done and justice will be seen."
Barnea underscored that the attack in Sydney is indicative of a larger, ongoing threat, noting, "The criminal idea of terrorism targeting innocent civilians has been and remains a cornerstone of the security strategy of the current Iranian regime." He further cautioned that "jihadist elements, ISIS and others, have also resolved to target every Jew in the world."
Expressing solidarity with the victims' families, Barnea remarked, "Our hearts are with the families of the Australian victims," while asserting that the ultimate aim of such attacks is to undermine Jewish resilience. He affirmed, "Our spirit will not be broken. We will continue to celebrate our holidays and live our lives in Israel and around the world." Meanwhile, Australian and international authorities are actively investigating the attack at a Hanukkah celebration at Bondi Beach, which resulted in 15 fatalities and numerous injuries. Australian officials have attributed the attack to individuals inspired by Islamic State ideology, with homemade ISIS banners discovered in the attackers' vehicle.
The incident has also sparked renewed calls in Washington for a more robust counterterrorism stance. Rep. Andy Barr, R-Ky., emphasized the need for a proactive approach, stating, "We must stay on offense and never return to the weak policies. Under President Trump, American strength is back, and terrorists know it. Irans nuclear program was crippled, ISISs leadership was crushed, and a clear message was sent: If you threaten Americans, you will be eliminated."
The Bondi attack follows months of warnings from Israeli intelligence about an escalating terror threat to Jewish communities and Western nations, driven by Iran-linked networks and Sunni jihadist groups. Senior Israeli intelligence sources previously informed Fox News Digital that the Mossad had alerted Australian authorities to Iranian-linked terror activities well before the attack, emphasizing that the threat is not limited to a single nation.
"Today its ISIS. Tomorrow its Iran," a senior Israeli intelligence official remarked, describing a complex threat landscape where multiple extremist actors operate in parallel and often overlapping arenas. The official further disclosed that Israeli intelligence has identified or thwarted similar activities across Europe, Africa, and Asia, involving countries such as Germany, Austria, South America, India, and Thailand. "If you knew how many terror attacks the Mossad has prevented, you would drop your jaw," the source revealed.
Barnea also highlighted the inseparable link between Iran's use of terrorism and its broader strategic ambitions, including its nuclear program. He warned that Tehran "will sprint toward nuclear weapons the moment it is able to," and that "the idea of developing a nuclear bomb is still alive in their hearts." He emphasized Israel's responsibility to ensure that Iran's nuclear project, which he claimed has been significantly damaged through close cooperation with the United States, is never revived.
As investigations continue in Australia, Israeli intelligence officials assert that the Bondi Beach attack aligns with a broader global pattern of terrorism fueled by both Iranian-backed networks and jihadist ideology. This reinforces Barnea's warning that the threat remains active, adaptive, and global, necessitating vigilance and decisive action from the international community.
