Bill Maher Reveals The 'Big Wig' Who Ditched Him As A Friend After Trump Dinner

In a candid conversation with The Free Press, comedian Bill Maher revealed that his longstanding friendship with Larry David, the creative mind behind "Curb Your Enthusiasm," has come to an end.

This revelation came during an interview posted on YouTube, where Maher discussed the fallout from his dinner with President Donald Trump at the White House in March. The dinner sparked controversy, leading David to pen a satirical op-ed in The New York Times, drawing a provocative comparison between Maher's dinner and dining with Adolf Hitler.

According to the Daily Caller, Maher was asked by The Free Press' Maya Sulkin if his outspoken commentary had cost him friendships. "Fuck yeah," Maher candidly replied, specifically noting, "Larry David certainly is not really my friend anymore."

When pressed on whether he had communicated with David since the op-ed, Maher stated, "No, I said my piece on my last show I put him in my last editorial right before Thanksgiving, our last show."

On a November 21 episode of HBO's "Real Time with Bill Maher," the comedian took a jab at David, highlighting his refusal to appear on the show due to a purported lack of political acumen. "Yeah, I get that now," Maher quipped, following his critique of those who opposed his dinner with Trump. He dismissed the backlash as "childish" and "purely emotional," arguing, "This is so childish, so purely emotional the people who got all butthurt because I had dinner with [Trump] you know, because hes Hitler," before asserting, "Except hes not. So unhelpful and dumb. Trump is the most supportive President Israel and the Jews ever had!"

Despite the criticism from the left, Maher expressed on his "Club Random" podcast in November his willingness to dine with Trump again. When questioned by Piers Morgan on "Piers Morgan Uncensored" in April about his friendship with David, Maher acknowledged the strain, saying, "This wasnt my favorite moment of our friendship."

Adding to the discourse, comedian Dave Chappelle voiced his disapproval of Maher during his Netflix special, "Dave Chappelle: The Unstoppable," as reported by the New York Post. Chappelle, who has known Maher since his late teens, remarked, "Bill Maher, the famous comedian, Ive known Bill since I was like, 18, 19 years old, and Ive never said this publicly, but fuck that guy. Im so fucking tired of his little smug, cracker-ass commentary."

This criticism followed Maher's rebuttal of Chappelle's assertion that it was "easier to talk" in Saudi Arabia than in the United States.
