Morgan Geyser, the woman convicted in the notorious 2014 "Slender Man" stabbing, has been apprehended following an extensive manhunt.
Geyser managed to evade authorities by removing her Department of Corrections monitoring bracelet and fleeing from a group home in Madison, Wisconsin, on a Saturday night. Earlier in 2025, it emerged that Geyser had begun identifying as a transgender male.
As reported by The Post Millennial, Geyser was taken into custody on Sunday night at approximately 10:34 p.m., concluding the intense search. The Madison police had earlier announced her escape on Sunday morning, stating, Morgan Geyser was last seen in the area of Kroncke Dr. around 8 p.m. with an adult acquaintance. Her whereabouts are unknown as of Sunday morning."
They further urged the public, "A recent image of Geyser, captured on security video from this past month, is attached below. If you see her, please call 911."
In 2017, Geyser pleaded guilty to attempted first-degree intentional homicide for the brutal stabbing of Payton Leutner. Despite her plea, she argued that mental illness absolved her of responsibility, claiming the attack was to appease Slender Man, a fictional entity.
At the time of the crime, Geyser was merely 12 years old, and along with Anissa Weier, led Leutner into a wooded area during a sleepover, as detailed by the New York Post. Geyser then stabbed Leutner 19 times, encouraged by Weier, yet miraculously, Leutner survived.
Following the incident, Geyser was confined to the Winnebago Mental Health Institute for seven years, though initially sentenced to 40 years in a psychiatric facility. She was granted the opportunity to appeal for release biannually and was residing at the group home when she orchestrated her escape.
