Dug-Up Docs Reveal Swalwell Campaign's Weird Payment Flip-Flop To 'California Guy'

In an exclusive report, Fox News has highlighted a series of puzzling inconsistencies in the Federal Election Commission (FEC) filings of Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-Calif., a prominent critic of President Donald Trump.

The filings reveal a multitude of payments, amounting to over $360,000, made to a Haitian American staffer named Darly Meyer. The reasons for these payments, as stated in the filings, vary considerably, raising questions about their legitimacy.

According to the FEC filings of Swalwell for Congress and his Remedy PAC, Meyer has received over 75 payments since 2021, with individual amounts ranging from a mere $53 to more than $12,000. The reasons for these payments are diverse, including travel expenses, car service, security services, salary, and even reimbursements for personal travel expenses, event flowers, and postage.

In addition to his role in Swalwell's campaign, Meyer is the owner of CYD Global Car Service, a limousine service based in North Hollywood. The company's website promotes its professional chauffeurs, corporate shuttles, and limousine services, emphasizing luxury travel.

Meyer also administers a Facebook group named "CaliHaitians - Haitians in Az, Ca, Nv, Hi, Or, Wa," which describes itself as a "progressive community" of Haitians residing in the United States. The group, which has over 3,000 members, is selective about its membership, aiming to establish a "closer bond" with leaders of groups or organizations capable of providing professional services to strengthen the community.

The Facebook group's "about" page states, "Lastly, in forging a strategic partnership and casting a wider net for the betterment of Haiti and its children outside of the country, we invite head members of other organizations or groups boasting 500+ members to join us."

The group's administrators also include Guerline Jozef, the co-founder and executive director of Haitian Bridge Alliance (HBA). The HBA is committed to "working to end racist border policies like the Remain in Mexico Policy, Title 42, and the border-to-prison-and-deportation pipeline" and assists illegal migrants on the U.S.-Mexico border.

When Fox News Digital contacted Swalwell's campaign for clarification on the varying classifications of payments to Meyer, Swalwell refrained from explaining the different classifications, simply stating, "Darly protects me and my family." He also posted on social media, suggesting that Fox News Digital should be sent the bill for his security expenses.

However, a review of online records from California's Bureau of Security and Investigative Services revealed no evidence of Meyer holding a security license. Meyer declined to comment when approached by Fox News Digital.

Hans von Spakovsky, a FEC commissioner and current senior legal fellow at the Heritage Foundation, told Fox News Digital, "this is the type of bizarre inconsistency that should catch the attention of the FEC." He suggested that the irregularities should prompt the FEC's auditing arm to investigate the legitimacy of these payments.

This is not Swalwell's first encounter with controversy over his campaign expenditures. His campaign has reported numerous expenditures on luxury car services, high-end restaurants, and opulent hotels in cities like Dubai, Berlin, Paris, and London over the years.

Swalwell's campaign has also been reported to have spent tens of thousands of dollars on Just Dreaming Yacht Charters, a San Francisco agency offering "relaxing and luxurious" private yachts for up to 40 passengers, as a fundraising expense.

In 2023, Swalwell's campaign reported three payments totaling nearly $1,700 at the five-star Burj Al Arab Hotel in Dubai, a symbol of Arabian luxury. During the last quarter of 2023 alone, Swalwell's campaign spent nearly $90,000 on travel expenses, including stays at various luxury hotels such as 1 Hotel San Francisco, Austin Proper Hotel, and the Times Square Edition.

In 2022, his campaign reported nearly $60,000 in travel expenses over a six-week period between April and May, including a $1,752 expenditure at the five-star Hotel La Maison Champs-Elyses in Paris.

These revelations raise serious questions about Swalwell's campaign expenditures and the nature of his relationship with Meyer. The inconsistencies in the FEC filings warrant a thorough investigation to ensure transparency and adherence to campaign finance laws.
