In a recent address to Israel's parliament, President Donald Trump humorously touched on his daughter's marital life while discussing the US-brokered ceasefire with Hamas.
Trump, 79, revealed that his daughter, Ivanka Trump, and her husband, Jared Kushner, had accompanied him on his trip to Israel.
According to the Daily Mail, Trump expressed his gratitude to Kushner, stating, "Let me also give a very special thanks to someone who truly loves Israel, in fact loves it so much that my daughter converted." Kushner was seen mouthing 'thank you' to his father-in-law, a moment that was captured on camera.
Trump continued, "I didn't know this was going to happen. And Ivanka is here." This candid insight into the couple's personal life was met with a standing ovation from the Israeli parliament.
Trump humorously added, "Bibi, you do know this was not in the cards for me. She is so happy and he is so happy - at least I think they're happy. If they're not we have a big story." He then clarified that Ivanka and Kushner have a great marriage and a very special relationship, quelling any potential rumors.
The Summit for Peace, a gathering of world leaders chaired by the US and Egyptian presidents, was held on Monday to support the breakthrough ceasefire deal in the ongoing Israel-Hamas war. As part of the ceasefire, Hamas released all 20 remaining living hostages held in Gaza, while Israel began releasing hundreds of Palestinian prisoners.
The release of the hostages and prisoners has sparked hope for an end to the deadliest war ever between Israel and the terrorist group.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu pledged his commitment to peace in a speech to the Knesset, the Israeli parliament. Trump is set to head to Egypt later on Monday, where he and Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi will lead a summit with leaders from more than 20 countries to discuss the future of Gaza and the broader Middle East.
