Chaos At Utah State: Bomb Squad Blows Up Suspicious Device Just Moments Before Turning Point USA Event (Video)

In a tense situation at Utah State University, the bomb squad was called to address a "suspicious device" found just outside a campus building on Tuesday afternoon.

This incident unfolded as the university was already on high alert due to a Turning Point USA event, the first since the tragic assassination of its founder, Charlie Kirk.

According to Breitbart, the device, although ultimately determined to be "non-explosive," prompted a cautious response from authorities. Video footage captured the bomb squad issuing a warning of "fire in the hole" before a loud detonation echoed through the area.

The university confirmed in a statement to Fox News, "A suspicious device was found near the exterior of Old Main. University and local law enforcement were dispatched to the scene. A device was located and deemed to be a non-explosive device. Out of an abundance of caution, the bomb squad detonated the suspicious device. Old Main building is now clear and safe. All scheduled events may resume as normal."

Ellis Bruch, Executive Director of Public Safety at Utah State University, revealed that an employee had witnessed someone placing the device under a tree, prompting immediate notification of the authorities. The university emphasized its commitment to safety, stating, "Given the heightened concerns, USUs department of public safety is continuing to collaborate with these partners to ensure appropriate safety measures and protocols are in place."

The assassination of Charlie Kirk, who was shot while speaking at a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University on September 10, has left a profound impact. Kirk, 31, is survived by his wife Erika and their two children.

This incident underscores the ongoing challenges faced by conservative organizations in ensuring the safety of their events and participants.
