Dr. Frank Turek, spiritual mentor to the late Charlie Kirk, recently shared insights into Kirk's faith-driven political motivations during an interview on Breitbart News Daily.
Turek, who accompanied Kirk on his campus tour, spoke about the profound impact of Kirk's tragic public demise, emphasizing the global spiritual awakening it has triggered.
According to Breitbart, Turek highlighted the ripple effect of Kirk's death, stating, "God brings good from evil, and were seeing a lot of good around the world that people are getting interested in Jesus and getting interested indeed, either becoming Christians or rededicating their lives to Christ."
He went on to suggest that Kirk would willingly sacrifice his life if it meant leading millions to Jesus, despite the sorrow of leaving his family behind.
Kirk's life mission, Turek explained, was to spread the message of Jesus' sacrifice for the forgiveness of sins. He was deeply involved in politics, but his political engagement was rooted in his Christian faith.
Turek noted, "He knew that politics affects people, and because politics affects policy and policy affects people, you have to be engaged if youre a Christian, because you care about people. Youre called to love your neighbor, and thats what we do."
In the wake of Kirk's death, the campus tours have continued, with high-profile figures stepping in to fill Kirk's shoes. Turek revealed that he has been addressing more apologetics-type questions as people grapple with understanding the tragedy. "This tour were talking about, If God, why evil? And its a tribute to Charlie," Turek said.
Turek also touched on the moral objections to Christianity, stating, "In other words, people dont necessarily want Christianity to be true, because if it is, that has implications on their moral lives." He further explained that many people are more interested in pursuing happiness than truth, which often leads them to believe in things that offer temporary pleasure but not lasting happiness. "Its a disaster," he commented.
Turek emphasized that true contentment can only be achieved through truth, and "Jesus is the truth." He shared that Kirk's desire was for young people to understand this truth and to live meaningful lives by following Jesus, getting married, starting families, and becoming self-reliant.
"Stop playing video games till midnight. Stop living in your parents basement when you can get your butt in gear and make a living for yourself. Stop looking at women as objects. Start living the way you should be living," Turek quoted Kirk's message.
Turek believes that Kirk's career skyrocketed due to his message of truth and responsibility. He concluded by saying, "And that that message is one reason why Charlies career took off."
