The tragic assassination of Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, has spurred President Donald Trump to issue a stern warning to leftist agitators: America will not revert to its state five years ago.
From the Oval Office on Monday, the President reiterated his commitment to holding antifa groups accountable for their violent actions. He reinforced his stance on labeling them as a domestic terror organization and hinted at potential criminal charges.
Furthermore, he declared that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents have the freedom to respond as they see fit if attacked while performing their duties.
As reported by Western Journal, President Trump's remarks were in response to a question from a reporter from the conservative outlet, The Center Square. The reporter asked if the President would classify the loosely connected violent groups as a terror organization.
"I would do that 100 percent and others also, by the way, but antifa is terrible," Trump responded. He also revealed ongoing discussions with Attorney General Pam Bondi about levying Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organization (RICO) charges against antifa and similar groups.
"We have some pretty radical groups, and they got away with murder. And also, Ive been speaking to the attorney general about bringing RICO against some of the people that youve been reading about that have been putting up millions and millions of dollars for agitation," Trump stated.
He emphasized that these are not mere protests but crimes, citing instances where bricks were thrown at ICE and Border Patrol vehicles.
"They dont have to take that anymore, I let it be known," Trump added. "And they dont want to take it. They were told by a past administration it became almost a culture if somebody throws a rock at you, do nothing. If somebody spits in your face, do nothing. And I say, when they spit, you hit. Do whatever you want. You do whatever the hell you want.
The President's move is intended to send a clear message to liberal groups funding a "network of organizations" that instigate riots on the left, according to White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller. "The key point the President has been making is somebody is paying for all of this. This is not happening for free, and so out of the Presidents direction, the attorney general is going to find out who is paying for it, and they will now be criminally liable for paying for violence," Miller added.
This development comes less than a week after the alleged murder of Charlie Kirk, who was purportedly shot by an individual influenced by "anti-fascist" movements at a rally at Utah Valley University. Several bullet cartridges found at the scene bore messages commonly used by antifa groups, such as "Hey fascist, catch!"
Despite previous attempts to reclassify antifa as a domestic terror organization, opposition from the left and limitations in American law regarding the classification of domestic terror organizations have hindered progress. However, a RICO charge against antifa groups or their financiers could effectively curb their activities and honor the memory of Charlie Kirk.
Kirk was a staunch advocate for open debate but vehemently opposed the thug's veto, a concept seemingly embraced by antifa and similar organizations. Even if the alleged shooter was not a formal member of these groups, it is clear that he followed their blueprint for chaos. The time has come to put an end to this.
Antifa's reign of terror is nearing its end, swiftly and justly. Law and order will be restored, and conservative Americans will once again be able to protest safely.
