The New York Post has unveiled plans to establish The California Post, a new media outlet set to operate from Los Angeles.
This venture aims to provide coverage of politics, business, and entertainment with a unique West Coast perspective, challenging the prevailing liberal media landscape in the region. The newsroom will be based in Los Angeles, with a focus on both the city and the broader state of California.
As reported by the Daily Caller, News Corp CEO Robert Thomson expressed the necessity for this new outlet, stating, Los Angeles and California surely need a daily dose of The Post as an antidote to the jaundiced, jaded journalism that has sadly proliferated. He emphasized the importance of The Post's role in offering serious reporting and engaging content to readers who are eager for such journalism.
The California Post will offer a dedicated homepage and a daily print edition, supported by resources from the East Coast to provide comprehensive national and international news. New York Post Editor-in-Chief Keith Poole highlighted the significance of this expansion, noting, California is the most populous state in the country, and is the epicenter of entertainment, the AI revolution and advanced manufacturing not to mention a sports powerhouse. Yet many stories are not being told, and many viewpoints are not being represented.
He further elaborated on the outlet's mission to deliver a "common-sense, issue-based approach to metropolitan journalism."
The New York Post, with its storied history dating back to its founding by Alexander Hamilton in 1801, is one of the nation's oldest newspapers. California has emerged as the Post's second-largest readership, boasting over 7 million readers statewide. The California Post is slated to launch in early 2026, promising to bring a fresh perspective to the media landscape.
