In a dramatic turn of events, an illegal migrant who managed to escape from a Los Angeles detention facility with the assistance of anti-ICE activists has been recaptured.

The individual, identified as British national Ahmed Mohamed, was apprehended while donning a $1,700 Louis Vuitton T-shirt, highlighting a stark contrast between his circumstances and attire.

According to The New York Post, Mohamed's escape unfolded as he was being transferred to a downtown Los Angeles detention center. His criminal history includes charges related to narcotics and weapons possession. During the transfer, contract guards had lined him up with other detainees when a masked accomplice facilitated his escape. The duo then fled in a waiting van, aided by protesters.

The saga concluded on Friday when ICE agents in San Diego "swiftly apprehended" Mohamed at an undisclosed location. The agency shared an Instagram post featuring the captured migrant in handcuffs, accompanied by the message, "You can run from the law but you cannot hide." Mohamed now faces charges of escaping from confinement.

The detention facility had previously been the epicenter of anti-ICE riots in June, where rioters resorted to throwing concrete blocks at federal agents and obstructing major highways to thwart President Trump's mass deportation efforts. In response to the unrest, President Trump deployed 4,000 National Guard troops and 700 Marines to Los Angeles to restore order.

California Governor Gavin Newsom, known for his liberal stance, challenged the Trump administration's deployment of troops, filing a lawsuit that claimed the action overstepped federal authority and violated the 10th Amendment. Newsom argued that the deployment was unjustified under the federal law meant for addressing an "invasion" or "rebellion."
