In the realm of understanding the human psyche, horoscopes and talk therapy may fall short.
Instead, a more accurate reflection of an individual's personality might be found in their Spotify activity, according to an anonymous investigator. This patriot claims to have spent over a year meticulously scraping the Spotify playlists of numerous high-profile figures, including politicians, journalists, and media personalities. "The Panama Papers revealed hidden bank accounts. This reveals hidden tastes," the investigator asserts.
According to the Daily Caller, the investigator categorizes the uncovered musical preferences into four distinct groups. The first category, "Best In Class," includes the eclectic mix of tunes found in Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis' playlist.
This collection features an array of agreeable tracks from artists such as Johnny Cash, Glen Campbell, and The Beach Boys. Left-wing journalist Taylor Lorenz also earns a nod in this category for her appreciation of the Dire Straits. House Speaker Mike Johnson and Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff are also recognized for their respective playlists, the latter of which includes high-energy party anthems like "California Gurls" and "Lets Get Retarded."
The second category, "I Guess It's Music," is reserved for playlists that, while not necessarily impressive, are still considered music. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt's "Baby Shower" playlist falls into this category, with tracks like "Run the World (Girls)," "Girls Just Want To Have Fun," and "My Girl." Democratic Michigan Rep. Rashida Tlaib's "In love" playlist, which includes Ed Sheeran's "Im a Mess" and Sam Smith's "Stay with Me," also finds a place in this category.
The third category, "I'm Worried," is reserved for playlists that raise eyebrows. Vice President J.D. Vance's playlist, which juxtaposes adolescent emo tracks with pop hits from One Direction, falls into this category. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman's alleged preference for Missy Elliott's "Get Ur Freak On" and House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries' "Galentines" playlist also earn spots in this category.
The final category, "Cut Off Your Ears, Youre Not Using Them Anyway," is inspired by the musical tastes of FTX Founder Sam Bankman-Fried. His playlists allegedly include tracks from The Weeknd, Khalid, Sia, Frank Ocean, Macklemore, and Becky G, prompting the question, "Who actually listens to the garbage on the Billboard Top 100?"
The anonymous investigator's findings offer a unique insight into the personal tastes of these high-profile figures. While the Panama Papers may have revealed hidden financial dealings, this investigation uncovers a different kind of hidden truth: the musical preferences that shape our understanding of these individuals.
Whether these playlists are a cause for celebration, concern, or outright confusion, they serve as a reminder that even the most public figures have private tastes.
