Two New Jersey moms spotted inappropriate material in the school library.
When they spoke out against the sexually explicit material, the school librarian sued them.
Christina Balestiere and Kristen Cobo spoke against the material at a board of education meeting. According to Fox News, Roxbury High School librarian Roxana Russo Caivano filed a lawsuit against them, arguing that the parents had defamed her by challenging her choice of content and alleging that they had labeled her a child predator and accused her of luring children with pornography.
Both moms recently spoke with Fox News regarding the issue. The duo said they had a problem with books that they described as hardcore porn available to children as young as thirteen.
This isnt the first time theyve complained about the books available to children. According to the moms, they first mentioned the issue in August 2022. They spoke out repeatedly, but the books remain available in the library.
Per Fox News, After months of unanswered pleas to remove the books, the New Jersey mothers contacted the Board of Education and were invited to voice their concerns at the March 6 Roxbury Board of Education meeting. A few weeks after stating their concerns, the two moms were served papers regarding the suit being filed against them. The moms point out that this is just a scare tactic to silence anyone concerned about the material taught in schools or the books available.
One of the books the moms complained about is titled Gender Queer: A Memoir. This book remains one of the most controversial books as parents nationwide complain about it. The book is consistently challenged because it talks about masturbation and shows pictures of sexual acts. This book is one of the most banned books in America due to its graphic images and content.
