Democrat states have become notorious for failed criminal policies, such as defunding the police and bail reforms that let criminals walk free.
Most people would assume that this is the cause of a drastic increase in auto theft. However, Democrats arent blaming criminals. Instead, they say its the car companies fault.
Fox News reports, Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison has pointed fingers at Kia and Hyundai for a spate of car thefts, going as far as to open an investigation into the manufacturers over whether they had omitted industry-standard, anti-theft technology on some of its automobiles.
One person stated that Kia and Hyundai might as well have giant steal me stickers on the vehicles due to the lack of anti-theft technology.
Kia and Hyundai vehicles have seen an increase in thefts. In Minneapolis, thefts for these brands increased by 840% last year. The city of St. Paul saw a 600% increase. The thieves are doing more than just stealing cars. Sometimes, vehicles are used to commit other crimes, including burglaries, murders, and robberies.
California has the highest car theft rate in the country, and theyre also blaming car companies. In addition to blaming Kia and Hyundai, they are also blaming Toyota. This led to multiple attorneys sending the companies a letter. According to Fox News, Democratic California Attorney General Rob Bonta and 22 other attorneys general sent a letter to Kia and Hyundai blaming them for not installing anti-theft immobilizers, the Washington Free Beacon reported.
They also sent a letter to the government encouraging the recall of several vehicles. The states refuse to acknowledge videos on TikTok showing users how to steal specific models. However, they say manufacturers need to take responsibility for the car thefts. Car thefts have drastically increased, but Democrats quickly point the finger at other people instead of accepting responsibility for failed policies.
