In a recent interview, Fox News anchor Maria Bartiromo engaged President Donald Trump in a discussion concerning the potential removal and concealment of enriched uranium by Iran prior to the United States' airstrikes.
The airstrikes, which targeted Iran's nuclear capabilities, have been a focal point in the media, with the President and his administration expressing dissatisfaction over the portrayal of events and the leaks that question the effectiveness of the strikes. President Trump has maintained that the strikes "completely obliterated" Iran's nuclear program, a claim that has been met with skepticism in some quarters.
According to Mediaite, another contentious issue involves the alleged stockpile of 60 percent enriched uranium that might have been relocated. This matter was brought to the forefront when Fox News anchor Bret Baier questioned Vice President JD Vance about it, though no definitive answers were provided. President Trump has countered these allegations, asserting that any images suggesting the removal of uranium are, in fact, depicting Iranians evacuating the sites. During the interview, Bartiromo inquired, "Do you think that the Iranian regime hid some of the enriched uranium before the strikes?" To which President Trump responded, "No, you mean did they take it out of the deep one?"
President Trump elaborated on the difficulty of such an operation, emphasizing the challenges associated with moving enriched uranium. "I dont think they did. No, I think, first of all, its very hard to do. Its very dangerous to do, it is very heavy, very, very heavy," he explained. He further noted that the element of surprise played a crucial role, as "we didnt give much notice because they didnt know we were coming until just, you know, then." The President dismissed the notion that Iran could have anticipated an attack on what was perceived as an "impenetrable" site.
Bartiromo referenced reports suggesting the movement of 400 kilograms, or 800 pounds, of uranium, questioning its traceability. President Trump remained firm in his stance, stating unequivocally, "They didnt move anything." He reiterated, "You know, they moved themselves, they were all trying to live, they didnt move anything."
The dialogue between Bartiromo and President Trump underscores the ongoing debate surrounding the airstrikes and the broader implications for U.S.-Iran relations. As the situation continues to unfold, questions about the true state of Iran's nuclear capabilities and the effectiveness of the U.S. response remain at the forefront of international discourse.
