Documents recently disclosed by The Oversight Project, a division of The Heritage Foundation, suggest a potentially unethical collaboration between Hunter Biden's attorneys and lawyers from the Biden Justice Department during the special counsel investigation into the President's son.
According to Western Journal, these internal documents seem to expose a "comfortable DOJ connection" for Hunter Biden. The documents indicate that government lawyers and Biden's legal team discussed how to present the criminal investigation to the media.
The Oversight Project's social media post on Friday stated, "Prosecutors coordinated with Hunters lawyers on media inquiries about slow-walking of investigation. DOJ circulated a 'proposed statement' drafted by Hunters lawyers the statement was designed to be hidden from FOIA." FOIA, or the Freedom of Information Act, is a tool often employed by journalists to obtain records from federal agencies.
The disclosed documents include email exchanges between the team investigating Hunter Biden and Justice Department attorneys, some from the tax division. These emails discuss interactions with Hunter's counsel "regarding an inquiry from a Washington Post reporter."
The Oversight Project also highlighted a paragraph instructing the lawyers to ensure the "email be maintained in confidence by the Department of Justice," and to be specifically "marked 'FOIA Confidential Treatment Requested," to protect it from journalists' requests for background documents.
This revelation aligns with the sequence of events surrounding Hunter Biden's controversial prosecution. The Oversight Project noted, "Overall, these docs show the relationship between Hunter and David [Weiss] prosecution team was more cooperative than adversarial."
In what may have been an attempt to demonstrate impartiality during the investigation into President Donald Trump, then-Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed a special counsel to examine charges against Hunter Biden. These charges included lying about drug use on a legal form to purchase a gun and tax evasion, not to mention the infamous "laptop from hell."
Before the November election, Hunter was referred for criminal prosecution. After being offered a lenient deal, a judge intervened, forcing Hunter to change his plea. Despite repeated assertions that "nobody is above the law," Biden issued a pardon for his son that is now under investigation by the Trump Justice Department for potential use of an autopen, which could render the pardons null and void.
Rumors are now circulating that Hunter may have pardoned himself. Despite losing his law license, he has not faced significant consequences for his actions. Furthermore, evidence from the State Department regarding his dealings with Ukrainian gas company Burisma Holdings suggests he may have sold access to sensitive government material and traded White House access for millions of dollars.
Given this complex network of deception, corruption, and lies, it is hardly surprising that Biden's Justice Department lawyers, who pledged to uphold the law, appear to have been shielding Hunter in any way possible. These individuals did, however, swear an oath to the American people. If there was coordination that violated federal law, the new Department of Justice should prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law.
The far left often organizes "No Kings" day and labels Trump a dictator. Yet, the actions of the Bidens seem to resemble those of an untouchable and unaccountable royal family.
