Outgoing Chicago Mayor's Takes Shocking Turn On Crime

Outgoing Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot is being criticized as she is leaving.

Fox News says that Lightfoot seemed to pivot her stance on crime in the city. She said that Democrats should speak the truth about violent crime in the town on her way out. However, her critics say it is too little, too late..

Mayor-elect Brandon Johnson is set to be sworn in next month, and Lightfoot is doing everything she can to make herself look better as she is already headed out the door. However, more than that will be needed to earn back the trust of the people she was meant to serve.

Retired Chicago police lieutenant John Garrido spoke with Fox & Friends Weekend and said that Lightfoot did not do enough to take accountability for the spike in violent crime in Chicago during her time as Mayor.

Too little, too late, said Garrido, and If you listen to her entire speech there, she doesnt take any accountability whatsoever. She still blames everything on Kim Foxx and on Judge Evans.

He continued by saying: I assume shes probably jockeying for some type of position, maybe some point, and maybe Biden gets involved and gives her something. Im not sure exactly what shes looking for, but she definitely always likes to point the finger at everybody else,

and

Its always somebody elses fault. Even when she lost the election, it was somebody elses fault, not her own, but she created the toxic work environment that we have now thats causing thousands of officers to leave every year.

Lightfoot spoke at the African American Mayors Association Conference in Washington, DC, and said that Democrat mayors nationwide should ensure they are addressing rising crime in their cities.

Lightfoot said: As Democrats, if we do not speak the truth about violent crime in our cities, we will be the worse for it.

She continued, saying, I come to this conversation as a former federal prosecutor. I come to this as a former defense attorney, I am the sister of a returning resident,

and

But I know that there are people in my city that are wreaking havoc every day and need to be off the streets. Thats reality.

Fox News reports that this is ironic because many people point to the rise in crime as a big reason why Lightfoot has been ousted from her job as Mayor of Chicago in the first place. Now, she wants to offer others advice about handling crime when she didnt do so herself.
