In a recent online exchange, renowned actor James Woods called on California Governor Gavin Newsom to step down from his position, citing the escalating riots in Los Angeles related to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Woods expressed his dismay at the destruction of the state, referring to it as being "burned and destroyed by invaders."
Woods, known for his role in the film Casino, took to social media on a Monday morning to voice his criticism of Newsom. "You are such a fraud," he declared, adding, "If it weren't for a real leader protecting Californians from you, this whole state would be burning rubble. Resign!"
This was in response to a post by Newsom, in which he accused President Donald Trump of exacerbating the situation by "manufactur[ing] a crisis and inflaming conditions," according to Breitbart.
In a subsequent post, Woods responded to California State Assembly member Carl DeMaio's claim that the group instigating the L.A. ICE riots had received $34 million in taxpayer money from California Democrats last year. "Yep. We not only have to watch our beautiful state burned and destroyed by invaders; we get to pay for it, too," Woods retorted.
`DeMaio had previously stated, "The group instigating many of the riots in Los Angeles is CHIRLA which got $34M in your tax dollars last year from Gov. Gavin Newsom and CA Democrats! DEFUND THE LEFT!"
Woods also shared a post from FBI Director Kash Patel, which read, "Just so we are clear, this FBI needs no ones permission to enforce the constitution. My responsibility is to the American people, not political punch lines. LA is under siege by marauding criminals, and we will restore law and order. Im not asking you, Im telling you.
Woods directed this post at Newsom, suggesting that the governor should let the adults handle the chaos while he indulges in luxury at the French Laundry.
The actor also shared a photo from the Los Angeles ICE riots, featuring flames and dark clouds billowing in the air above rioters waving a Mexican flag. He wrote, paraphrasing a quote frequently issued by conservatives, "We imported the third world, and now weve become the third world.'"
He further emphasized his point by sharing an image of a masked rioter waving a Mexican flag amidst rising smoke and fire, stating, "When you vote Democrat, youre voting for this."
Woods also shared a video of Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Chief Jim McDonnell revealing that the rioters are now using weapons that can kill his officers. McDonnell disclosed at a recent press briefing, "We had individuals out there shooting commercial-grade fireworks at our officers. That can kill you. We are overwhelmed, as far as the number of people out there engaged in this type of activity.
He explained that the rioters were using cinder blocks and hammers as weapons, adding, "Theres no limit to what theyre doing to our officers.
In response to this, Woods sarcastically remarked, "Nice job, Venceremos Brigadier Bass," while sharing video footage of several vehicles spray-painted with graffiti and completely engulfed in flames in Los Angeles. He further depicted the situation as "Democrat California in a single image by sharing additional video footage of rioters waving Mexican flags amidst the charred remains of vehicles.
The riots in downtown Los Angeles began on Friday amid standoffs with leftist protesters and ICE agents, who are in the city to conduct raids and remove illegal aliens from the country. The disturbance intensified into all-out chaos in the days that followed, with social media users sharing photos and video footage of the harrowing scene in L.A. while Democrats leaders who claim to be in command of their city and state pointed their fingers at the president.
President Trump announced on Sunday that he directed the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Department of Defense (DOD) to aid in quelling civil unrest as ICE agents conduct raids in Los Angeles. This move underscores the severity of the situation and the need for decisive action to restore peace and order.
