President Donald Trump has thrown his support behind Jack Ciattarelli, a former New Jersey Representative, in his bid for the governorship of the Garden State.
On Saturday, Trump took to social media to rally voters, urging them to back Ciattarelli in the forthcoming gubernatorial election.
As reported by One America News, Trump had earlier lauded Ciattarelli, describing him as a "true champion." Addressing his supporters, the President stated, "Im asking you to get out and vote for a true champion for the people of your state Jack Ciattarelli. Hes been a friend of mine, and hes been a real success story."
Ciattarelli, who recently met with Republican leaders at the Trump National Golf Club-Philadelphia, expressed the importance of Trump's endorsement during an interview with Fox News Digital. "Its a really big deal," he remarked, emphasizing the President's strong standing in New Jersey. "The presidents doing very, very well in New Jersey."
This marks Ciattarelli's third attempt to secure the governorship. His initial bid in 2017 for the GOP nomination was unsuccessful. However, in 2021, as the Republican nominee, he came remarkably close to unseating Democrat Governor Phil Murphy, losing by a narrow margin of three points.
Ciattarelli's campaign is likely to benefit from Trump's endorsement, given the President's enduring influence among conservative voters. As Ciattarelli seeks to capitalize on this momentum, the race promises to be a closely watched contest in New Jersey's political landscape.
