Parents are up in arms and demanding answers after they learned that an 18-year-old male exposed himself to girls in a girls locker room.

The Post Millennial reports that the man claimed a trans identity in an apparent bid to get himself out of trouble for his actions.

The Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty (WILL) is demanding answers about this incident after four girls at East High School became victims in the girls locker room shower area. Reports from the Institute indicate that the 18-year-old man stripped off his clothes and exposed his private parts to the girls while claiming he was transgender.

The Post Millennial reports that the four girls entered their locker room after an hour-long swim course as part of their physical education class. Despite just trying to take their showers and move on with their day, the girls were exposed to the violent actions of this alleged crime. It seems that he didnt care that he was potentially altering their lives in such a dramatic way. The man introduced himself by saying, Im trans, by the way.

Title IX is a part of federal law that requires that males and females be offered equal opportunities and protections when they choose to participate in educational and athletic activities. Reports of this incident were provided to school officials, who notified parents. However, the Sun Prairie Area School District (SPASD) administrators failed to provide adequate protections to the girls provided by federal law. Libby Sobic, WILL Director of Education Policy, spoke about this and said:

School districts need to think through what loosening boundaries for single-sex spaces could mean for girls. Parents are understandably concerned about whether school districtslike the Sun Prairie Area School Districtare doing everything required to protect girls in bathrooms and locker rooms. WILL is calling on the district to act promptly to restore a sense of safety and privacy in its schools.

WILL Deputy Counsel Dan Lennington also spoke about this and said:

Public schools have two basic jobs: educate our kids and keep them safe. All too often our schools cant do either. This is a wakeup call to all parents and taxpayers to become more informed about their local public school district and demand accountability.

Despite this, the school administrators did not file a report with the Title IX coordinator. This is a requirement under federal law, yet the people in power in the schools did not do what they should to protect all students under their care.
