According to Politico, Republican group One Nation, which is aligned with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, is unloading more than $1 million on a campaign hitting Manchin for supporting Democrats marquee party-line bill last year, according to details shared with POLITICO. Simultaneously, a strategist close to GOP Gov. Jim Justice said that the governor has made up his mind and will likely launch his Senate campaign before the end of the month.
Justice making a run for the Senate boosts the GOPs chances of gaining the upper hand in the chamber, and theyre pushing hard for this campaign win. Not only did they drop a cool million on the campaign for Justice, but theyre also campaigning against Manchin. According to Republicans, Manchin has made several moves that will hurt him at the polls.
Manchin is known for getting in bed with Biden and campaigning for Bidens agendas. These include a deal for health care, climate control, and taxes. Republicans are betting that these things are going to have a drastic impact on Manchin if he chooses to run again. Thats what theyre betting on.
Politico says, Manchin is bristling on a near-daily basis at Bidens implementation of the so-called Inflation Reduction Act and keeps declining to support the Presidents re-election. But Republicans are clarifying that last years multibillion-dollar bill will be the centerpiece of their campaign to defeat him.
Even if Manchin is voicing his disapproval of President Biden now, it doesnt change what hes supported and voted for in the past.
