Yet, a new survey challenges this portrayal, suggesting that the real danger may lie elsewhere.
According to The Blaze, a study conducted by the Network of Contagion Research Institute in collaboration with Rutgers University's Social Perception Lab reveals a startling trend among Democrats. The findings indicate that a significant portion of Democrats condone violence against their political adversaries, particularly targeting President Donald Trump and his supporters.
The survey highlights a disturbing "broader assassination culture" emerging within certain far-left segments of the American populace, with 55% of self-identified leftists expressing approval of assassinating President Trump.
The survey further uncovers that 31% and 38% of respondents believe it would be at least somewhat justified to murder Elon Musk and President Trump, respectively. Additionally, 39.8% of those surveyed find it somewhat acceptable to engage in property destruction, such as vandalizing a Tesla dealership, as a form of protest. Sara Gonzales of "Sara Gonzales Unfiltered" sarcastically remarks, "So property destruction, totally fine. I mean, its just a peaceful protest."
The report also notes a strong correlation between these violent beliefs and the justification for the murder of the United Healthcare CEO, alongside a hyper-partisan left-wing ideology. Gonzales concurs, referencing Ryan Routh, who was involved in an assassination attempt on President Trump. Court documents reveal Routh's efforts to procure a rocket launcher from Ukraine as part of his plot.
Gonzales further reflects on the situation, pondering the media's reaction if the roles were reversed: "Some people are so crazy deranged, some people are just so incredibly crazy. And you just have to think about the fact that if this had been a Trump voter targeting Joe Biden, and they had gone to Russia and said, Can you please give me an RPG?" Booyens adds, "It would be over."
