In a recent address at the State Department, President Joe Biden delivered his concluding foreign policy speech, reflecting on the achievements of his administration over the past four years.
"I come here to the State Department to report to the American people on the progress weve made in the last four years, in our foreign policy, in our presidency, Biden stated, emphasizing the significant changes that have occurred during his tenure.
According to Gateway Pundit, Biden highlighted the transition from the post-Cold War era to a new epoch, marked by fierce global competition. "Ive said many times, we are at an inflection point. The post Cold-War era is over. A new era has begun. In these four years, we faced crises, weve been tested, weve come through those tests, stronger in my view, than we entered those tests. This is a fierce competition underway. The future of the global economy, technology, human values and so much else. Right now, in my view, thanks to our administration, the United States is winning the world-wide competition, Biden asserted.
Despite the challenges faced, Biden expressed a sense of triumph, asserting that the United States' alliances are stronger than they have been in decades. He further claimed that NATO is more capable than ever, and that many allies are now contributing their fair share. "Today, I can report to the American people, our alliances are stronger than theyve been in decades, he said. NATO is more capable than its ever been. And many more of our allies are paying their fair share, Biden stated, adding that the US's adversaries are weaker than they were four years ago.
Biden also addressed the contentious issue of Ukraine, claiming that his administration successfully defended the country against Russian aggression. As I saw it, when Putin launched his invasion, I had two jobs one to rally the world to defend Ukraine, and the other is to avoid war between two nuclear powers, Biden said. We did both those things. Today, Ukraine is still a free, independent country, with a potential, a potential for a bright future.
However, the President's speech was not without controversy. He mentioned the US servicemembers who lost their lives during the Afghanistan withdrawal, a move that has been widely criticized. We grieve all 2,461 Americans who made the ultimate sacrifice in the longest war in American history. And I grieve those brave service members whose lives were lost during the withdrawal, Biden said.
Biden also reiterated his stance on climate change, labeling it as the single greatest existential threat to humanity. He concluded his speech on a positive note, expressing confidence in the strength of the United States moving forward. But even but even so, its clear my administration is leaving the next administration with a very strong hand to play. And were leaving an America with more friends and stronger alliances, whose adversaries are weaker and under pressure. An America that once again is leading, uniting countries, setting the agenda, bringing others together behind our plans and visions, Biden said.
