DCs New Power Duo? Bowser And Trumps Great Meeting Sparks MAJOR Buzz!

In a recent announcement, Muriel Bowser, the Mayor of Washington, DC, expressed her optimism about the potential for collaboration with President-elect Donald Trump.

Bowser revealed that she had a "great meeting" with Trump, during which they discussed their shared vision for the nation's capital. "Today, President Trump and I had a great meeting to discuss our shared priorities for the Presidents second term. President Trump and I both want Washington, DC to be the best, most beautiful city in the world and we want the capital city to reflect the strength of our nation," Bowser stated.

According to The Post Millennial, the meeting between Bowser and Trump focused on potential areas of cooperation between the local and federal government. These areas included the federal workforce, underutilized federal buildings, parks and green spaces, and infrastructure. Bowser expressed her hope that the two would "continue to find common ground" during Trump's second term and pledged her support for a successful inauguration on January 20.

Trump's relationship with Washington, DC has been fraught with tension, as he has consistently criticized the city's crime rates and management. The New York Post reported that Trump had previously threatened to "take over" the capital and place it under federal control.

In a post on Truth Social in December 2023, Trump described DC as a "dirty, crime-ridden death trap" that "must be taken over and properly run by the Federal Government." During a rally in Las Vegas in February, he reiterated his intention to "take over our horribly run capital," characterizing the city as a "nightmare of murder and crime." Trump declared, "Were going to federalize it. Were gonna have the toughest law enforcement in the country. Were not going to have any more crime and its going to look beautiful."

The crime rates in Washington, DC have been a cause for concern. In 2023, the city recorded 273 murders, the highest number since 1997. However, there was a significant decrease in crime in 2024, with the murder rate dropping by 32 percent and total crime falling by 35 percent. This decrease followed the decision by Congress to block an update to DCs criminal code that would have reduced the maximum penalties for crimes such as carjackings. This move aligns with conservative values of maintaining law and order and ensuring the safety of citizens.
