Denzel Washington, the acclaimed 69-year-old actor, has embarked on a new spiritual journey, receiving his minister's license and being baptized.

This significant event took place at the Kelly Temple in New York City, a place that holds a special place in Washington's heart.

According to The New York Post, the ceremony was conducted by Archbishop Christopher Bryant, who also shared the news on social media. "It took a while, but I'm finally here...If [God] can do this for me, there's nothing He can't do for you," Washington expressed during the ceremony, as reported by Bryant. "The sky literally is the limit."

Bryant's Facebook post captured the momentous occasion, stating, "We celebrate the addition of Minister Denzel Washington into the clergy, having received his ministers license in the Church of God in Christ today, in a truly uplifting moment." He further explained that Washington's attire was due to his simultaneous water baptism.

The Kelly Temple holds a nostalgic significance for Washington, who attended the church as a child. He also shared his experience of being filled with the Holy Spirit after visiting another church with actor Robert Townsend in the 80s.

Fox News Digital reached out to Washingtons representative for additional comment, but there was no immediate response. However, Bryant continued to express his admiration for Washington's commitment to faith and service in a separate Facebook post, calling it "truly inspiring."

Despite his recent spiritual commitment, Washington has been candid about the challenges of discussing religion within the entertainment industry. "When you see me, you see the best I could do with what Ive been given by my lord and savior," the Gladiator II star wrote for Esquire. "Im unafraid."

Washington's bold stance on faith is not without its perceived consequences. He stated, "You cant talk like that and win Oscars. You cant talk like that and party. You cant say that in this town." He further expressed his freedom from the constraints of Hollywood's norms, emphasizing that the lack of open discussion about faith does not equate to a lack of belief.

However, the actor admitted his uncertainty about the faith of his fellow actors. "Its not like we all meet somewhere and discuss what we believe. So, I dont know how many other actors have faith. I didnt do no poll. How would I find that out? I mean, theres no Church Actor Meetings Ive been to."

Washington, who rose to fame with his breakthrough role in the medical drama St. Elsewhere in 1982, has since earned multiple nominations and awards for his work in films such as Fences, Training Day, The Book of Eli, Cry Freedom and Malcom X. His recent spiritual journey adds another dimension to his illustrious career, demonstrating his commitment to individual freedom and traditional values.
