In a heartfelt message, former First Lady Melania Trump has expressed her deep concern for the hostages held captive by Hamas terrorists since last October.
She shared her thoughts on Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, just days shy of the one-year mark of the horrific Palestinian terrorist attack on Israel. This attack, orchestrated by Hamas, resulted in the loss of thousands of innocent lives and the abduction of hundreds more, who remain in captivity.
According to The Post Millennial, Melania Trump's plea for a world devoid of terrorism and her call for the safe return of the hostages is deeply personal. This comes in the wake of recent assassination attempts on her husband, former President Donald Trump. "My thoughts are with those enduring the suffering of captivity. It is hard to believe that nearly a year has passed since the tragic events in Israel, where innocent lives have been destroyed," Melania stated. "Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, should inspire us to defend human dignity and commit to the safe return of every hostage. Together, we must strive for a world grounded in compassion, empathy, and tolerance - free from terrorism."
Despite numerous attempts, Israel has been unsuccessful in negotiating a ceasefire agreement with Hamas. This has been a joint effort with the United States and other allies. It is estimated that over 90 hostages are still held in Gaza, following the abduction of more than 250 individuals from various countries by the terrorist group on October 7, 2023. Israeli authorities have reported that approximately 60 of these hostages are still alive, while over 30 are presumed dead, as reported by the New York Times.
The conflict in the Middle East has intensified in recent weeks due to attacks on Israel from Iran and its terror proxy, Hezbollah. The Biden administration has pledged its support for Israel in the face of these rocket attacks. However, President Biden has made it clear that he will not back an attack on Iran's nuclear facilities by Israel. This stance raises questions about the administration's commitment to Israel's security and the broader fight against terrorism.
