WATCH: Ohio Woman Deemed Unfit For Trial After Fatally Stabbing 3-Year-Old Boy

In a recent development, a woman accused of fatally stabbing a toddler in an Ohio supermarket parking lot has been deemed unfit to stand trial.

The suspect, 33-year-old Bionca Ellis, allegedly attacked the three-year-old boy and his mother in a seemingly random act of violence.

According to The Post Millennial, the ruling was made by Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Judge John Russo, who stated that Ellis would remain hospitalized indefinitely. However, the possibility of a trial remains if her mental state improves.

The incident occurred on June 3, when Ellis reportedly followed Julian Wood and his mother, Margot, from the Giant Eagle grocery store in North Olmsted to the parking lot. It is alleged that as Margot was preparing to load her groceries into her car, Ellis attacked them with a knife. Julian was stabbed twice, and Margot was injured in the shoulder as she attempted to save her son from the assault.

Tragically, Julian succumbed to his injuries in the hospital, where his mother also received treatment. Ellis was apprehended by the police a short distance from the scene, still in possession of the alleged weapon.

Ellis, whose bail was set at $5 million following the attack, had previously displayed unsettling behavior during a court appearance, smiling and giggling as charges were read against her.

During the bail hearing, the victim's father, Jared Wood, expressed his grief and anger. He stated that Ellis "took everything from us," and added, "There's nothing that could ever replace my son." He pleaded with the judge to "do whatever you can to keep this monster behind bars."
